It is interesting how celebrations have changed since I was a child. A birthday party used to be going to play at a friends house with a few games and some sandwiches and cake. Now it has to be in a hired hall with equipment and lavish food or in a play place. This seems to be happening to everything really - that it is getting grander and being done on a bigger scale. I am not sure what was wrong with doing things simply really but I guess I am just old fashioned. We don’t just have wedding favors but we now have bridal shower favors and everything seem sto be bigger, better and more expensive. I guess with the recession, things will change soon and people will just have to cut down on everything and prioritise their spending a bit more.
